Doctor and Update

Diagnose your CLI setup and keep the CLI up to date.

Doctor

buildspace doctor [--json]

Checks the CLI version, install method, the server's minimum supported version, authentication, API reachability, and the git remote. Exits 1 if any check fails. With --json:

{ "version": "0.17.0", "checks": [{ "name": "auth", "status": "ok", "detail": "..." }], "ok": true }

Update

buildspace update # update using the detected install method
buildspace update --check # only report whether a newer version exists
buildspace update --check --json
buildspace update --pm bun # force a package manager

The CLI detects how it was installed (npm, pnpm, bun, or a local install) and updates the same way. If the update fails with a permissions error, the CLI prints how to fix it. When the server requires a newer CLI, commands fail with CLI_OUTDATED (HTTP 426) — run buildspace update and retry.
